In recent days, the Science and Technology Department of Fujian Province disclosed the assessment results for the provincial-level key laboratories, the Provincial-level Key Laboratory for Controlling Infectious Diseases in Livestock & Biotechnology in the university passed the assessment.
It is said the aim of the assessment this time was mainly the 57 provincial-level key laboratories that have been constructed for 5 years as well as have passed the acceptance check. In similar local universities, 4 have registered for the assessment. Of the 10 key provincial-level agricultural laboratories, only our university and Sanming University have registered for this assessment.
The Provincial-level Key Laboratory for Controlling Infectious Diseases in Livestock & Biotechnology in the university was approved to set up by Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology in March, 2013. The research purpose of this laboratory should focus at diagnosis and control technology concerning infectious disease of livestock and poultry, pathogen monitoring and molecular epidemiological research on animal diseases as well as research on bioactive substance extraction and immune mechanism. Guaranteed by the prevention and control of livestock infectious diseases, the laboratory should play an important role in the scientific research and in serving the local economic construction, which should also become an important base for training senior professionals and doing service for the animal husbandry in Longyan and in the province.
